FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! In addition to our original audio-only conferencing, we've recently added a Skype VIDEO CONFERENCING capability! (Of course, if you're sensitive about "looking good for the camera", you can always keep your webcam turned off and only your microphone turned-on.)

We meet most every Sunday at 2:00 PM EST (or EDT during the Daylight Savings Time periods). And since everyone typically has other activities on Sundays, we strictly limit each get-together to exactly one-half hour. Please participate whenever you're able...even if it's only for a quick "hello and goodbye"!

Sincerely,

SHK

Shel King, NHS Class of '58 Webmaster/Administrator

How to Get Set-Up to Participate:

Your first requirement is to have a high-speed Internet connection -- e.g., a DSL/U-Verse connection provided by your phone company, or a cable connection provided by your Cable company.

Your next step relates to Skype. Most computers/smartphones these days come with Skype already installed. However, if you have an older desktop or portable computer you may have to download and install the application from http://www.Skype.com.

A general word about Skype: Skype is a great application for audio and video conferencing. Most desktop computers and smartphones offer the application.

Once you have a device with Skype installed and working, you will need to do a (one-time) "handshaking-procedure" to be able to get into successful contact with our class' Skype ID which is:

"mplsnorth1958"

This is simply done by going to the "Contacts" selection at the top of your Skype screen...and scrolling-down/clicking-upon "Search for Skype Users...".

Now, in the "Find" area, type in the above class Skype ID (without quotes) and left-click on the "Find" button.

Skype should then quickly find the mplsnorth1958 Skype ID and show it highlighted in blue. Now, left-click on the "Add Contact" button.

You should now see a message box open up with the words: "Enter a message to introduce yourself" -- highlighted. Go ahead and enter something like: "This is (Your Name)...Please add me to the class Skype ID!"

Once your message is received, we will accept the invitation to complete the "handshaking process"...and you will then be ready to participate in any of our class on-line get-togethers! To do so, just have Skype turned on at the appointed time and you will be brought into the conversation!!

Should you have difficulty with any of the above steps, feel free to e-mail me and I'll lend you a hand!!

Excerpt from ON-LINE REUNION #2 -- 7/11/10:

This get-together was special. It was the first one where fellow-classmate, Dave O'Brien, was able to participate via voice. You can hear how wonderfully-clear Dave's comments are as he tells us about many of the differences between life in the U.S. and life in Africa.

Dave indicated that he will be participating in future reunions, so please be thinking up additional questions for him and be on-hand to ask him the questions as well as to speak to your NHS classmates from around the country and around the world!! Now, sit-back, relax, click on the start arrow, and enjoy the following 12 minute excerpt from our second North High Class of '58 On-Line Reunion held via Skype on 7/11/10 with participants stretching from California...to Minnesota...to Florida...to Nairobi, KENYA!!!
